Westminster High School is becoming known as a “school of murals,” and its seventh piece of public art was recently completed on the Goldenwest Street campus.
It was a collaboration between visiting artist Sam Lo of Singapore and WHS art students led by teacher Daina Ellis. “Art transcends boundaries,” said Ellis. “It weaves an inclusive tapestry that reveals a common thread of our shared community.”
Lo said, “Painting with the students at Westminster High has been nothing but wholesome, and I certainly learned a lot from my time there,” said Lo. “Thank you for having me; these are memories I’ll always cherish.”
This year’s installment is seventh under Ellis’ leadership, having worked in the past with artists from Southern California, Canada Spain and South Korea.
WHS is part of the Huntington Beach Union High School District. It serves all of Huntington Beach and parts of Fountain Valley, Garden Grove and Westminster.
