The two area Major League Baseball teams went in different directions on Tuesday night with one battling from behind to post a win and the other suffering an extra-inning loss.
After a four-game skid, the Los Angeles Angels won their second straight game, defeating the Colorado Rockies 10-7 in Anaheim.
Matt Thaiss batted 3-for-5 with five RBIs, and Taylor Ward knocked in three runs. Jo Adell hit his 16th homer of the season.
With the win, the Angels are 47-60 and remain in fourth place in the American League West.
In San Diego, the Los Angeles Dodgers jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and were held scoreless the rest of the way, losing 6-5 to the Padres.
Donovan Solano’s ground ball single in the bottom of the 10th drove in the winning run and gave the Padres a walkoff 6-5 win.
Cavan Biggio’s two-run homer for the Blue Crew helped build their early lead. Tyler Glasgow had a good night, working seven innings and giving up three runs on six hits. He struck out eight batters and walked one.
The Dodgers are now 63-45 and first in the National League West, leading the Padres (58-51) by 5.5 games.
