A vacant building that’s been the cause of numerous complaints was ordered demolished by the Stanton City Council on Tuesday night.
The council voted 5-0 to knock down one of two detached garages at 8930 Pacific Ave. It had been seriously damaged by a fire believed to have been started by transients.
Those who were trespassing and breaking into that structure have now begun doing the same at 8940 Pacific Ave., a neighboring vacant fourplex building.
The cost of the demolition is set at $96,000 and the work will be done by Interior Demolition Inc.
Also on Tuesday night, the council approved the lease of three-additional solar-powered camera trailers to discourage prostitution and the illegal sale of sex. The rental cost is $13,950.
