The suspects arrested Friday in Westminster on a wide variety of gun and drug charges weren’t exactly low-profile.

Officers did a traffic stop on a Dodge Hellcat – a coupe with a powerful engine – in the area of Edwards Street and Trask Avenue. The stop was made because the car had out-of-state license plates and officers noted multiple vehicle code violations.

Police soon discovered that one of the occupants of the Hellcat was on probation from Riverside County for firearms-related charges. The driver turned out to have a prior felony conviction.

The driver was in possession off armor-piercing “green-tip” ammunition. A search of the car resulted in the discovery of multiple shotguns, a rifle and over 100 rounds of shotgun ammunition. The subject on probation was searched and police found methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia on him.

Officers seized the guns, ammunition, drugs and paraphernalia. The car’s occupants were arrested and booked for multiple felony and misdemeanor charges including being a felon or addict in possession of a firearm, a felon in possession of ammunition and possession of meth.
