It was a matter of principals at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education.

“Principals” because the district’s September Employees of the Month are the top administrators of two district schools.

Todd Nirk, principal of Los Amigos High School in Fountain Valley, and Olivia Hufnagel, principal of Hazard Elementary School in Santa Ana were honored.

Short films were shown featuring the reasons for honoring Nirk and Hufnagal. Both were recognized for their connections with pupils and emphasis on positive change on their campuses.

When photos were taken, accompanying Nirk was the furry Lobo mascot of Los Amigos.

The GGUSD serves most of Garden Grove as well as portions of Anaheim, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.

The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 15.

OLIVIA HUFNAGEL (with certificate), principal of Hazard Elementary School, was also an employee of the the month (Tribune photo).
