A SUSPECT has been arrested in a fatal ht-and-run accident in Huntington Beach (Shutterstock).
A 51-year-old Costa Mesa female bicyclist is dead after a “hit-and-run” collision with a car after midnight Monday in Huntington Beach.
According to Jessica Cuchilla, public affairs officer for the HBPD, the incident took place near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Glencoe Drive early Monday.
The driver of a grey 2023 Ford Bronco was located by officers after a short pursuit. The victim was found unresponsive at the scene. She was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
A preliminary investigation indicates the bicyclist was traveling southbound in the far right lane of Beach, north of Glencoe, when she was struck from behind by the Ford.
The driver of the Bronco, a 68-year-old man from Orange, was arrested for second-degree murder, hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
