Four waves of rockets fired from Lebanon into northern Israel on Thursday killed seven people, according to Israeli medical staff.

The Associated Press is reporting that four foreign workers and three Israelis died in the attack. The attack comes as the United States is seeking to negotiate a cease-fire deal in the Mideast that heads off the possibility of a wider conflict.

An estimated 25 rockets were fired into an olive growth near the port city of Haifa. It’s speculated that the rockets were launched in response to an Israeli attack in northern Gaza that inflicted damage and injuries at a hospital.

The rockets are believed to have been fired by the Hezbollah militia, according to United Press International.

Gender issues arise as election nears

With only a few days before the 2024 presidential election, the candidates exchanged attacks based on gender.

The New York Times is reporting that Vice President Kamala Harris slammed former president Donald Trump for claiming that he would protect American women “whether the woman like it or not.”

“Why does Kamala Harris take issue with President Trump wanting to protect women, men and children from migrant crime and foreign adversaries?” said Karoline Leavitt, a campaign spokeswoman.

On the same front was a remark by Trump that he might task Robert F. Kennedy, Jr, to “work on women’s health.” Kennedy has been controversial for his skepticism about vaccinations.

Kennedy, who ran as an independent candidate before endorsing Trump, could “work on health and women’s health and all of the different reasons, because we’re not really a wealthy or a healthy country,” said Trump.
