A Westminster man has been arrested on charges of sexual battery and hate crime.

According to WPD Commander Michael Harvey, the arrest of Aaron Aubrey Navies, 32, stemmed from an incident on Friday. At around 7:42 a.m. on that day, a 43-year-old female resident of Garden Grove was in a retail store in Westminster in the 13500 block of Beach Boulevard.

When she reached down to pick up an item, the suspect allegedly – without provocation and against her will – grabbed her buttocks with both of his hands.

She stood up, threw an item at the suspect and backed away. Navies allegedly said, “You don’t have rights because you’re Mexican and I can do what I want.”

The victim called police and the arrest was made.
