Winter weather is wreaking havoc across the United States and the typically sunny Golden State hasn’t been spared.
In California, a tornado touched down near a mall, pulling up trees and hospitalizing several people. San Francisco got its first-ever tornado warning.
Scary and dangerous driving conditions are developing in Iowa and Nebraska with a temporary closure of Interstate 80.
The snowfall reported in upstate New York was as much as 33 inches in some areas.
Drones “aren’t Martians”
The appearance of numerous lighted aircraft – probably drones – over New Jersey and other areas of the East Coast are leading to the federal government “deploying additional resources” to investigate the situation.
According to USA Today, the “drones” with clusters of lights have been spotted hovering over populated areas.
The Department of Homeland Security is being pressed for information, but few answers are forthcoming.
Rep. James Hines (D-Connecticutt) discounted some of the rumors and conspiracy theories that have begun to circulate. “Now, let me say something that I know with confidence. It is not the Iranians. It is not the Chinese. They aren’t Martians.”
Sports: Chargers fall to Tampa Bay
The Los Angeles Chargers led at halftime, but went cold in the second half and lost 40-17 to the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers at SoFi Stadium.
Baker Mayfield passed for four touchdowns as the Buccs improved to 8-6 and the Bolts fell to 8-6.
Weather: It’s warming up time
We in the West Orange County area should get a taste of summer weather for a time this week.
According to forecasts, the warming trend will start on Monday with a daytime high of 67 and with an overnight low of 46 under partly cloudy skies.
Tuesday will bring sun and a high of 69 (52) and Wednesday will see a peak of 78 (50) with sun.
It will all start to reverse itself on Thursday when partly cloudy skies return and the temps drop to 72 (47).
