With no discussion or debate, the Huntington Beach City Council unanimously approved a proposal Tuesday night to create a committee to “review the process and information” regarding the recent approval of the Bolsa Chica Senior Care Community Project, a step which could result in the reversal of that earlier action.
The vote was 7-0 in favor of the proposal by Mayor Pat Burns and included Councilmember Tony Strickland, who in November cast what proved to be the deciding vote in favor of the project.
The committee would include three councilmembers to study the issue with the intention to decide whether the “process and information” regarding the project were sufficiently flawed to revoke the council’s earlier 4-3 decision in favor.
The project is planned to be built on a 3.10-acre site at 4952 and 4972 Warner Ave. near Bolsa Chica Street.
Included in plans for the project are 25 memory care units 134 assisted living units and a subterranean parking garage.
