The scheduled meeting of the Westminster City Council for next Wednesday has been cancelled but the first meeting of 2025 – January 8 – includes a continuation of the issue that has been at the heart of chaos during meetings at the council.
Scheduled is the second reading and adoption of an ordinance establishing “rules of decorum and civility from the mayor and city council during the council meetings.”
Two members of the council – Amy Phan West (District 1) and Nam Quan Nguyen (District 4) – have for months been in loud conflict with Mayor Chi Charlie Nguyen and other council members to the extent that the city has gone to court to block them from “disruption” of council meetings.
The council majority voted to censure and then sanction West without success.
The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the council chambers, 8200 Westminster Blvd.
