More than 1200 demonstrations in all 50 states by at least 150 organizations were held Saturday to protest against the policies and politics of President Donald Trump.

According to the Associated Press, “Hands Off” was the slogan and chant at many of those gatherings, people expressing their opposition to Trump’s array of tariffs on foreign goods, actions on immigration and the role of Elon Musk in cutting hundreds of thousands of jobs of federal workers.

United Press International put the total number of demonstrators at over a half-million people.

“The attacks that we’re seeing, they’re not just political. They are personal, y’all,” according to Kelley Robinson, president of the Human Rights Campaign group. “They’re trying to ban our books, they’re slashing HIV prevention funding, they’re criminalizing our doctors, our teachers, our families and our lives.”

In reply, a statement from The White House stated that Trump “will always protect Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare for eligible beneficiaries,” and blamed Democrats for giving those benefits to “illegal aliens.”
