Halos grounded by Astros, 14-3

The soaring Los Angeles Angels were brought down to earth a bit on Friday night.

Coming off an 11-1 shellacking of the Tampa Bay Rays in which they blasted six home runs, the Halos were humbled in Houston, losing 14-3 to the Astros.

The Angels led briefly on a fourth inning home run by Mike Trout (his sixth of the season) and an RBI single by Jo Adell, but it all went downhill after that. The Astros hit three home runs and scored six runs in the fifth, four runs in the fourth and three in the eighth.

One bright spot continued to be Kyren Paris, who singled and doubled to raise his batting average to .419.
The loss dropped the Angels to 8-5, still in second place in the American League West.

Yoshi super for Dodgers

Starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto worked six stellar innings, yielding just two hits and striking out nine batters as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Chicago Cubs 3-0 at home on Friday night.

The game was scoreless until the Blue Crew broke through with three runs in bottom of the sixth. With two out, Tommy Edman homered – his sixth – to left field.

With the win, the Dodgers are 10-4 and are in third in the National League West behind the Padres (11-3) and Giants (10-3).
