Trump praises the ultimate sacrifice of America’s veterans

President Donald Trump, who has in the past has made remarks which been dismissive of the valor and sacrifice of America’s veterans, struck a different tone on Monday in his Memorial Day speech at the Arlington National Cemetery.

“We certainly know what we owe to them” said Trump, according to The New York Times. “Their valor has given us the freest, greatest and most noble republic to ever exist on the face of the earth – a republic that I am fixing after a long and hard four years.”

But on social media, Trump was not so generous, wishing a “Happy Memorial Day to all, including the scum that spent the last four years trying to destroy our country through warped radical left minds.”

Israel air strikes hit Gaza

A cease-fire deal that allowed the exchange of prisoners between Israel and Hamas has apparently broken down as air strikes hit Gaza City on Monday.

According to United Press International, an estimated 54 Palestinians died when Israeli Defense Force jets struck a school where they were sheltered.

BBC reported that the refugees included some school children. The attack was part of Israeli attacks on what the IDF called “terrorist organizations” over a 28-hour period.

Dodgers back on track, Angels fall

The Blue Crew offense that was taking a bit of a break is clearly back as the Los Angeles Dodgers thumped the Cleveland Guardians 7-2 on Monday.

Yoshi Yamamoto (6-3) pitched six innings, giving up three hits and two earned runs. He struck out seven batters and walked two.

At bat, the Dodgers got solo home runs from Shohei Ohtani (his 19th of the year) and Will Smith (fifth). Freddie Freeman was 2-for-4 with one run scored and one run batted in

The team is now 33-21 and lead the National League West by two games.

The Los Angeles Angels (25-28) lost 5-1 to the visiting New York Yankees in Anaheim. It was their third straight loss after eight wins in a row. Zach Neto’s first inning home run was the only Halo score.

Weather: Temperatures are rising

The West Orange County area is in a warming trend, approaching the low 80s as the weekend nears. The forecast for Tuesday is for a daytime high of 73 with an overnight low of 60. There will be clouds in the morning and sun in the afternoon. Wednesday will cool a little to 72 (60) and then warm to 76 (70) on Thursday with partly cloudy skies. Friday rises to 79 (62) with mostly cloudy skies.
