President Donald Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship was blocked on Thursday by a federal judge in New Hampshire.

According to United Press International, U.S. District Judge Joseph Laplante – appointed by President George W. Bush – issued a preliminary injunction against Trump’s interpretation of the 14th Amendment.

An earlier Supreme Court ruling prevented lower federal judges to issue such injunctions nationally, but allowed it in “class action” cases, which Laplante stated this case is.

The 14th Amendment, ratified in 1868, granted citizenship to all persons born – or naturalized – in the U.S. The Trump Administration claims that does not apply to the children of migrants in the U.S illegally.

Sports: Dodgers will take on Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers, reeling from six consecutive defeats, had Thursday off but will start a series on Friday with their closest pursuer in the NL West race, the San Francisco Giants.

Going into Friday’s game, the Blue Crew has a five-game lead, but a sweep by the home Giants would close the gap to two games.

On Thursday, the Los Angeles Angels again slipped into fourth in the AL West as they lost 11-4 to the Texas Rangers in Anaheim.

Weather: A little bit cooler

A slight cooling trend is coming to our West Orange County cities this weekend. The 80s we’ve experienced will give way to daytime highs in the high to medium 70s. Friday is expected to top out at 77 with an overnight low of 74. The skies will be mostly sunny. Saturday and Sunday will warm slightly to 78 (63) and partly cloudy conditions. Monday will be 77 (63) and also partly cloudy.
