AN investigation into the fatal shooting of a man in on the Santa Ana RIverbed trail continues (Shutterstock).
The investigation is continuing into a murder last week on the Santa Ana Riverbed Trail.
According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the incident took place on Friday. SAPD officers responded at about 12:03 a.m. to a report of a man down at 2100 W. 17th Street.
Arriving officers found the man – later identified as Elvis Alfonso Mojica Delgado, 28 – lying unresponsive on the bicycle path of the riverbed.
He had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Orange County Fire Authority personnel also responded to the location and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. SAPD homicide detectives are seeking to identify and locate more witnesses who can provide additional information.
