Additional details have surfaced in what police are calling a double attempted murder incident earlier this week in Huntington Beach.
According to the HBPD, the i cident – which concluded in a shooting by South Gate police of a suspect in the Huntington Beach murder attempts – was reported to police as shots fired at the California Closets warehouse at 5921 Skylab Road.
Arriving officers found an adult male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. They provided medical care, including the application of tourniquets.
The victim was transported by Huntington Beach Fire Department paramedics to a nearby trauma center.
He’s expected to survive; the second male victim was not hit.
Identified as the suspect was California Closets employee Lucero San Pedro-Castro, 29, of Baldwin Park. The two victims she shot at were also California Closets employees. She had fled the scene before police arrived.
Detectives scoured the scene but were unable to find the gun. Several hours later a South Gate Police Department officer attempted a traffic stop on the suspect. She pointed a gun at the officer. He fired at her, and she died from her wounds.
