THE PACIFIC AIRSHOW over Huntington Beach near the city pier (File photo).

From a staff writer

If it’s October, the skies over Huntington Beach will be filled with blue sky beauty, aerial acrobatics and the sounds of the Pacific AirShow.

The annual event centers on the beaches bracketing the municipal pier, attracts tens of thousands of spectators to Surf City for a look at aircraft that range from the antique to the state-of-the art, and aerial feats that bring gasps and “wows” from the audiences below.

Performers will include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, a demo of the U.S. Air Force F-35 and the Royal Air Force Falcons parachute display team from the United Kingdom.

Although the event runs from Friday through Sunday, there will be practice runs by aircraft before that which may rattle your windows and set your dog barking.

The event will have many performances and exhibits. The show will generally run from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendance is free on the beach and pier, but crowds are expected, so premier seating can be purchased.
