Big fire, quickly knocked down

FIRE ON SHERLOCK Circle in Garden Grove on Sunday (OCFA).

A spectacular t fire that lit up tall trees and spread across a residential property in Garden Grove was nevertheless knocked down by firefighters in a mere 18 minutes.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the incident on Sunday afternoon was on Sherlock Circle, between Chapman and Lampson avenues.

Arriving firefighters found the house on fire, a recreational vehicle in flames in the backyard, a car on fire in the front yard, a neighbor’s roof starting to burn and cypress trees engulfed in flames just behind the property.

Crews working this two-alarm incident were able to knock down the fire in those 18 minutes as well as search the area to make sure no one was inside the buildings or injured.

Garden Grove police officers kept the streets clear for firefighters and assistance was provided by Anaheim Fire and Rescue.

As a general rule, a two-alarm fire means adding an additional two engines, a truck and another chief officer to the resources already deployed.
