The new Garden Grove Police Department building – still under construction – will receive its first “naming.”
At Tuesday’s meeting of the city council, a request by Mayor Pro Tem George Brietigam to name the Community Meeting Room of the three-story building after former mayor and councilman – and police lieutenant – William “Bill” Dalton – was approved unanimously.
“He sort of started the entire project,” said Brietigam. “He would take people on tours of the [existing] building”and point out how small it was for an agency the size of the GGPD.
Bill Dalton’s son Brian – now a police lieutenant – also spoke, noting his father’s dedication to both the department and the city.
Also at Tuesday night’s meeting, the council got an update from Teri Rocco, a member of the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education, inviting the board and the public to the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the GGUSD to be held on Friday, May 15 from 4-8 p.m. at the campus of Bolsa Grande High School.
