THE DODGERS and Angels each suffered losses on Tuesday

The Los Angeles Angels continued to tumble on Tuesday night, losing 5-2 to the Chicago White Sox and posting their fifth defeat in a row.

With the loss, the Halos have suffered nine defeats in 10 games and are 12-19, a half-game out of the fifth and last place in the American League West.

The game was tied 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning, but the White Sox outscored the Angels 4-1 the rest of the way.

Sebastian Rivero and Nolan Schanuel each had two hits. Mike Trout was 1-for-2 with two walks.

Jose Soriano, who won his first five starts, was more mortal Tuesday night. He worked five innings, yielding six hits and three earned runs. He struck out six batters and walked three.

The Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Miami Marlins and lost 2-1 on a night when Shohei Ohtani pitched well but not perfectly.

Ohtani (2-1) went six innings, giving up five hits and just one earned run. He struck out nine batters and walked three. The lone Dodger run came on an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.

However, the Blue Crew (20-1) remained in first place in the National League West, a half-game ahead of the second place San Diego Padres (19-10), who also lost on Friday night, falling 8-3 to the Chicago Cubs.
