Mike Trout in Dodger Blue?

THE ANGELS have produced two repeat MVPs – Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani – but it’s the Dodgers who have been consistent winners in recent years (AP photo/Ashley Landis).

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?

Where has the old Mike Trout gone?

Or, more to the point, where should he go?

Mr. Trout has been one of the great baseball players of the era. He’s certainly been the greatest all-time Angel, winning three Most Valuable Player Award, slugging 411 home runs and given Halo fans something to cheer for over 15 mostly cheerless seasons.

An injury-prone player now, he’s clearly in the twilight years of his career, but there’s still some pop in that bat with 11 homers in 41 games.

The Angels – barring an unprecedented turnaround – are clearly headed for another

charmless season. Over in Los Angeles, the Dodgers are not quite the team they were in 2025. And former Angel Shohei Ohtani isn’t playing like 2025, either, hitting .233 with six homers in 38 games.

So let’s put them together. Trade Mike to Chavez Ravine, where he could be reunited with his friend and co-MVP collector (four for Sho). Mike would have a chance for a playoff year and the news media –along with TV ratings – would go wild … for a while, anyway.

A lot of Orange County fans would howl, but that’s just about clinging to the past. Get in trade or cash something for the team to use to build on for the future.

We appreciate what you’ve done for us, Mike. And if we can put you on a World Series team, I suspect you’ll appreciate us more than ever.
