FIREFIGHTERS from the Huntington Beach Fire Department and Anaheim Fire and Rescue at the scene of a hazmat incident in Huntington Beach (HBFD).
A hazardous materials incident that lead to a limited evacuation of an area in an industrial zone in Huntington Beach today (Wednesday) has been “mitigated,” according to authorities.
The incident was in the 15200 block of Newsboy Circle between Graham Street and Bolsa Chica Street.
At about 9:30 a.m. the alert was sounded because an employee of TS Conductor accidentally mixed chemicals in a 55-gallon drum, according to the Huntington Beach Fire Department.
The mixture began to “self-heat,” which led to employees being evacuated from the building and workers in nearby businesses being told to “shelter in place.”
With the assistance of the Anaheim Fire and Rescue, the HBFD was able to “safely resolve the incident.”
