The use of the Miriam Warne building for a Little Saigon Cultural Center was approved by the Westminster City Council on Wednesday night.
Under the agreement – passed on a 5-0 vote – the Vietnamese Cultural Center will move from its Garden Grove location to the Warne building at 14491 Beach Blvd. (at Hazard Avenue).
The building – which formerly housed the Westminster Chamber of Commerce – will offer after-school tutoring, language classes (English and Vietnamese), “social support opportunities” for seniors and a venue for local non-profit groups to hold meetings and events at a low, or no cost.
Under the agreement, there will be a five-year lease beginning on Nov. 1, 2026, with three mutual optional extensions for a total of 20 years.
The lease payment would be $1 annually but the new lessee – VHV Foundation – will pay the utility costs, estimated at $11,311 annually.
