The Bolsa Grande football team added to its credentials as a likely CIF-SS playoff team with a 37-6 win over district rival Santiago on Thursday night at Bolsa Stadium.
With the win, the Matadors are 6-2 overall and 5-1 in Tango League play. They are in second place behind Loara (6-1, 5-0), the team that defeated them earlier in the season.
Bolsa has now won five games in a row and will next face Godinez Fundamental (1-5, 1-3) on Oct. 23.
Also on Thursday, La Quinta lost 10-7 to Santa Ana Valley in another Tango League game. The game was decided on a 27-yard field goal by Robert Torres as time expired.
With the defeat, the Aztecs are 4-3 overall and 3-2 in league, dropping into fourth place. The Falcons (6-2, 4-2) are in third place in the Tango.
