A pedestrian crossing the street in Huntington Beach on Saturday night was struck and fatally injured by an automobile.

According to the HBPD, the incident took place just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Edinger Avenue and Springdale Street.

Arriving officers found the 65-year-old pedestrian – a Huntington Beach resident – lying in the street. Paramedics were called and the woman was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased.

The vehicle was a silver Toyota 4Runner driven by a 25-year-old Midway City man. He remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Impairment doesn’t appear to be a factor with him, and it’s unknown if impairment was a factor with the pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation indicates that she was crossing southbound across Edinger, east of Springdale, when the Toyota stuck her as it was traveling eastbound on Edinger.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or the events leading up to it is asked to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator Tam Do at (714) 536-5666.
