ARTISTS’ RENDERING of the front and back of one of the panels of the digital billboard proposed for Westminster.
A split Westminster Planning Commission approved a request Wednesday night for a variance and conditional use permit to install a 64-foot high digital billboard.
Three members of the commission – Tony Bui, Andrew Nguyen and Quynh-Giao Nguyen – voted in favor, with two –Carlos Manzo and Anita Rice – opposed.
The sign would be 64 feet above grade; the height maximum now is 35 feet. It would operate from 5 a.m. to midnight daily.
In connection with this, EMI is proposing to remove the abandoned Sunset Ford sign along the freeway at 6312 Garden Grove Blvd.
Further, the applicant proposes to share a portion of the revenue from the proposed billboard with the city.
