This week is about saying hello to summer-like weather, and goodbye to high school for thousands of local graduates. Here’s our Monday Briefing of what to expect this week for those of us in the communities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster.

WEATHER:  The thermometer will be jumping this week in West Orange County, although summer is still technically more than a week away.

According to National Weather Service predictions, here’s the outlook by city:

MEETINGS:A lot of local government meetings with some high-profile issues.

Also on Tuesday the Stanton City Council will consider the annual city budget.  That’s at 6:30 p.m. Additionally, the Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m.

AND … Don’t forget that Friday is Flag Day – bring out your Stars and Stripes – and Sunday is Father’s Day. No ties, please.

GRADUATION: Local high schools will be holding their commencement exercises this week. The Huntington Beach system will hold its graduations on Wednesday and Thursday while Garden Grove’s will be on Thursday and Friday. Check with your local high school for times, dates and location.

ENTERTAINMENT: The major film release this Friday will be a remake of “Shaft,” starring Samuel L. Jackson in the title role. It’s rated R.
