President Joe Biden, scrambling to fend off suggestions that he drop his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination, took part in a 22-minute ABC News interview on Friday.
During the interview, he didn’t make any major missteps, but he did get a few dates and other facts wrong. He blamed his poor performance in his debate with former president Donald Trump on a lack of preparation.
At the same time, some Democratic leaders are calling on Biden to step aside, while others – like Vice Presdident Kamala Harris – are sticking by him, insisting he can still rally to defeat Trump.
Labour Party wins big in Britain
After 14 years of control by Great Britain’s Conservative Party, the rival Labour Party has taken control of the government. On Friday, Keir Starmer became prime minister.
“You’ve given us a clear mandate, and we will use it to deliver change,” he said. “To restore service and respect to politics. End the era of noisy performance. Tread more lightly on your lives. And unite our country.”
The British system call for their national leader being the leader of the party winning the most seats in the House of Commons. With some races still undecided Labor has won 326 of the 650 seats.
Angels continue skid; Dodgers rally to win
The Los Angeles Dodgers rallied to defeat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-5 on Friday at Chavez Ravine. Will Smith his three solo home runs and drove in the winning runs in the eighth for the win. The Dodgers are now 54-35 and lead the National League West by 6.5 games over the San Diego Padres..
