Hit & run kills woman in home

A HIT AND RUN accident in which a car crashed into a car in Garden Grove took a woman’s life (Shutterstock).

UPDATED with the name of the woman killed and motorist arrested.

A hit-and-run accident in which a vehicle crashed into a house in Garden Grove early Sunday morning took the life of a woman living in the house.

According to GGPD Traffic Investigator John Yergler, the incident took place around 1:55 a.m. in the 11800 block of Magnolia Street (north of Chapman Avenue).

Responding officers found that the vehicle – a silver 2019 Toyota Camry – had collided with the house. Bystanders directed officers to the driver, who was fleeing on foot.

That motorist was  identified as Jadir Salazar Montano, a 35-year-old resident of Riverside, who was found in a nearby neighborhood and arrested.

At the scene of the crash, officers discovered that a women in the house had been struck and was trapped by the vehicle. Personnel from the Orange County Fire Authority responded but the woman, Janet Carillo, 40, a Garden Grove resident, was dead at the scene.

Alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has video of the crash is asked to contact Investigator Yergler at (714) 741-5772 or by e-mail at johny@ggpd.org.

  1. This is terribly sad. The house has no protection from something like this happening. People speed on Magnolia all the time. I hope this fool drunk driver gets the maximum penalty and spends a very long time in prison.

  2. I wish he never driven that night I’m glad he’s doing 11 but I wish that gave him the max this county doesn’t do anything for their people even the ones who pay their taxes.
