All about the OC Tribune

THE ORANGE COUNTY TRIBUNE is published daily online and serves the communities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster in Orange County, California.
Orange County Tribune is a news website launched on Aug. 8, 2016. We provide coverage of news, opinion, arts and sports for the cities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster. The Trib is a non-partisan news organization dedicated to serving our communities with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Here are some things you might want to know about us.
Who We Are
The Trib is founded and operated by Jim Tortolano, a long-time Orange County resident. He has served as a reporter and/or editor for the Long Beach Press Telegram, Orange County Evening News, Huntington Beach Independent, Garden Grove Journal and Los Angeles Times. He retired in 2013 from a professorship at Golden West College. Jim serves as editor and publisher of the OCT.
Marilyn Lewis Tortolano, Jim’s wife, is co-owner of the Tribune and serves as copyeditor and business manager.
How To Contact Us
The best way is through e-mail. Use orangecountytribune@gmail.com . If you have press releases, comments, complaints, etc., this is the address to send them to. We welcome press releases about matters of interest to our communities. You can send them in electronic form to the above address, or use conventional mail to send your materials to 9402 Luders Ave., Garden Grove, CA 92844.
While we will do our best to use your submission, nothing is guaranteed and nothing will be returned.
Comments
Each post on the OCT carries an opportunity to comment. Those comments will be moderated by the staff. We invite your opinions but we will not post any that are slanderous, obscene, libelous, racist or personal attacks.
Our Schedule
We post daily – often several times a day – with our coverage. However, since the Trib is at least, in part, a labor of love, we will be taking breaks from time to time. Each hiatus will be announced ahead of time … we expect.
Advertising
The Tribune will accept a limited amount of paid advertising. Write to us for details. We will not accept ads for businesses whose primary purpose is to sell alcohol, tobacco products, “adult” entertainment or goods, or firearms.
The Tribune does not accept legal advertising. News sites are not yet able to do that. If you need to place a legal ad – fictitious business name, name change, etc. – we suggest you contact the Orange County News or Daily Pilot. For more information, see our “Growing Your Business with the Tribune” page: https://orangecountytribune.com/growing-your-business-with-the-tribune/
Politics
We are non-partisan. We do not make endorsements for election to public office, although we do reserve the right to make recommendations on ballot measures and other matters of community interest.
What happened to the “Old” Tribune?
The OCT was established in 2014 to publish articles about Orange County history. Obviously, that’s changed. But those articles remain in our archives here and we hope to continue to add pieces about county heritage as our time permits.
Jim! We miss you running the Garden Grove Journal. I am so happy to find your insights again!
Thanks! History has always been an interest of mine, especially local history.
All this, you retired from GWC and two books! You’re a busy man. 🙂
Gotta keep moving … better to wear out than rust out!
Dear J.T.; Got a minute? Thx, R. Donovan
Thanks for including our water tax protest. Carol
Are you just on line? Do you print a newspaper? Thanks
