Count on a long and loud meeting of the Westminster City Council on Wednesday night.
On the agenda is a proposed resolution “determining sanctions and remedial actions” against Councilmember Amy Phan West based on alleged “unacceptable conduct.”
West has already been censured by the council, with sanctions held as a possible future reproach.
On the other side, West and Councilmember Nam Quan Nguyen are requesting resolutions of censure against Mayor Chi Charlie Nguyen and Vice Mayor Kimberly Ho.
Additionally, there’s a request by West and NamQuan Nguyen to consider placing a measure on the ballot which would change the office of mayor from direct election to a system in which the office would rotate among members.
Additionally, Mayor Nguyen has requested review of the process for placement of items on the agenda to limit “to a reasonable amount” the amount of time each council member has for discussion of an agenda item.
There are some agenda items related directly to governance. Included are:
- construction bids for the Cherry Street Community Garden Project;
- construction bids for baseball infield renovation projects at Buckingham and Westminster parks;
- construction bids for the Blakey Park Restoration Project;
- construction bids for playground renovation projects for Bolsa Chica, Westminster Village, Bowling Green, College and Russell C. Paris parks;
- award of a contract for the Mendez Historic Trail and Green Street Bikeway Project;
- award of a contract for playground renovation at Tony Lam Park.
The council will meet in closed session at 4 p.m. and regular session at 6 p.m. in its chambers at 8200 Westminster Blvd.
