A 24-year-old motorcyclist from Rosemead was fatally injured Friday night after a collision with an automobile in Huntington Beach.

According to Jessica Cuchilla, public affairs officer for the HBPD, the incident took place around 7 p.m. on Beach Boulevard at Taylor Drive.

Arriving officers found the motorcyclist in the roadway. He had been riding a blue 2024 Yamaha R1 motorcycle when it collided with a grey 2019 Mercedes GLS450.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unknown is impairment was a factor with him.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 47-year-old Huntington Beach man, remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Intoxication was not a factor with him.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the Mercedes was northbound on Beach Boulevard and started a U-turn in the left turn at Taylor Drive. The motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Beach Boulevard just north of Taylor Drive and appeared to be moving at a high rate of speed when the collision occurred.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or events leading up to it is encouraged to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator V. Rattanchandani at (714) 536-5231.
