Oh no. Not again.

That has to be the feeling in the sinking hearts of Los Angeles Dodgers’ fans after Tuesday night’s 6-5 loss to the San Diego Padres in Petco Park.

With two straight losses to their National League West neighbors to the south, the Blue Crew is now at the edge, up against the wall, etc. A third loss on Wednesday would mark a third consecutive elimination in the Division Series after winning the division title.

The Dodgers led 1-0 early on a Mookie Betts home run in the top of the first. That was the good news. The bad news is that the Padres scored six runs in the second inning and a 6-1 deficit proved to be too much of a hole for the team to climb out of.

“You can’t give up six runs in an inning of the playoffs and expect to win,” said Walker Buehler, who started the game for LA. “So there’s some things that I have some pride about in that game. But at the end of the day, I put us in a really bad spot, and we fought back, but the spot was too big.”

The main fighting back was a grand slam by Teoscar Hernandez in the third inning that cut the Padres’ lead to 6-5. But that was as close as the Dodgers could get, batting 1-for-21 the rest of the game.

Shohei Ohtani, who has batted 1-for-8 in the two losses, said his team is ready to make a comeback.  “Overall, I really do feel this team really wants to win. That’s the feeling I get. Tomorrow, I’m going to go out there and do my best.”
