PACIFICA wasn’t the only local boys’ basketball team to advance to CIF-SS quarterfinal play. The Cavaliers beat Flintridge Prep on Friday and will face Workman High (City of Industry) on Tuesday in a Division 4AA game (GGUSD photo).

A powerful fourth-quarter rally capped by a three-pointer at the close lifted the Pacifica High boys’s basketball team to a 47-46 win over Tarbut V’Torah of Irvine on Saturday night at the Lions’ gym in a CIF-SS 4AA playoff contest.

The Mariners, now 20-10, advance to a home quarterfinal game on Tuesday, hosting Cate High of Carpinteria (14-7).

It was a dramatic finish as the M’s outscored the Rams by 17-9 in the fourth quarter and junior guard Myles Salas hit a three-point shot with 1.9 seconds to play for the win.
