The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the Trump Administration has the authority to deport Venezuelan migrants but only when they are given a court hearing before being taken out of the country.

According to the Associated Press, the court ruled that under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, the federal government had the right to deport persons termed “an invading force” but those subject to deportation must be allowed a hearing within a “reasonable time.”

The law been used three times: in the War of 1812, World War I and World War II. Members of the Tren de Aragua gang are considered in this case to be the “invading force.”

Monday’s action overturned a lower court ruling temporarily stopping the deportation.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen the temperatures in the 80s in our West Orange County area, but that’s just over the horizon. The forecast calls for a daytime high of 76 on Tuesday with an overnight low of 54 under partly cloudy skies. That cloud cover will remain for most of the week. Wednesday will warm to 78 (54) and then again to 82 (56) on Thursday and 82 (55) on Friday.
