Health officials in Palestine say that at least 85 people have been killed as they rushed to obtain food at locations in Gaza.
According to the Associated Press, Israeli forces opened fire on crowds trying to take food from a convoy of 25 United Nations relief trucks carrying aid for the “starving communities” in the area.
The urgency of the day was prompted by orders by the Israeli military to evacuate some areas. One of the people seeking flour from the aid convoy told the AP that “suddenly, tanks surrounded us and trapped us as gunshots and [drone] strikes rained down. We were trapped for around two hours.”
The Israeli military claimed that Hamas was deliberately creating chaos.
Trump says ‘bring back old names’
In a Truth Social post on Sunday, President Donald Trump urged the Washington Commanders football team and the Cleveland Guardians baseball team to return to their former names.
Trump wrote that – in his opinion – most Native Americans preferred the earlier names of Redskins and Indians.
Both names were changed in response to accusations that they were demeaning to American Indians. Both teams replied that there were no plans to revert to the “old” names.
Angels win; Dodgers fall to Brewrs
A five-run second inning propelled the Los Angeles Angels to a 8-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday in the City of Brotherly Love.
Zach Neto’s RBI single, Mike Trout’s walk and Taylor Ward’s double were enough in that inning to bring the Halos back to a game under .500 at 49-50. Ward ended up with four RBIs for the day. Jose Soriano got the win, going seven innings and yielding two earned runs while striking out five batters and walking two.
The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their slumping ways with a 6-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at Chavez Ravine on Sunday.
It was their ninth loss in 11 games. The visitors have now won nine in a row.
The Blue Crew jumped out to a 3-0 third-inning lead, including a two-run homer by Shohei Ohtani. He now has 33 round-trippers.
But the visitors struck back with three runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth and hung on for the win.
The Dodgers are now 58-42 and lead the National League West by just 3.5 games over the San Diego Padres (54-45).
