In the spirit of “equal time,” the Huntington Beach City Council on Tuesday night voted 7-0 to extend an offer to Orange County Registrar of Voters Bob Page to address the council.

The invitation comes after the council heard a presentation from a spokesperson from the Unite4Freedom group who claimed that there was widespread voter fraud and errors across the United States and in Orange County.

The city, said Councilmember Butch Twining, was inundated with demands to offer a balancing position. “I took a lot of those calls,” said Twining, who decided that an equal opportunity to address issues of ballot security was a fair response.

No specific date has been set. The city is at the center of a legal battle with the state over a voter-approved ordinance that required that voters provide identification when casting ballots in person.
