The rain may have slowed down the scoring for the local teams in the CIF-SS football playoffs on Friday night but they both came away victorious, if soaked.
Ma’kai Brown rushed for two touchdowns as the Pacifica Mariners defeated Liberty High of Winchester 13-7 in CIF-SS Division 10 action to advance to the semifinal round next week.
He scored on a six-yard run in the second quarter and a 17-yard rush later in the quarter for what proved to be the winning score.
The Mariners (9-4) will play the Hillcrest of Riveside game on Nov. 21.
Edison (7-5) squeezed past Inglewood 9-7 in Division 3 action. Next in the semifinal round will be vs. Palos Verdes (9-3), a team they defeated 21-20 in September.
