Was second strike on “drug boat” lawful?

The Navy admiral who ordered second follow-up air strike on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean seat was acting “within his authority and the law,” the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Monday.

A bipartisan report on the incident on Sept. 2 cited a published report that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave verbal order for a second strike that killed survivors on the suspected drug-smuggling craft.

Lawmakers indicated an interest into launching an investigation into the incident. U.S, Senator Tim Kaine (D-Virginia) said, “This rises to the level of a war crime if it’s true.”

No RealID? It’ll cost you $45.

Are you going to travel without a real-ID form of identification? If so –as of Feb. 1, 2026 – you’ll have to pay a $45 fee to fly from American airports. According to The New York Times, that fee will cover “an alternative identity process” which is not yet available.

Over 94 percent of air passengers are already using a RealID or other acceptable form of identification such as a valid passport.
However those who didn’t have a valid RealID or RealID- compliant documents were still allowed to travel without any “additional security screening,” according to what’s posted on the Transportation Security Agency website.
