Rather than the patter of reindeer hooves on your roof for the next few days, it may be the drumming of rain all across our West Orange County cities.
The National Weather Service is forecasting the arrival of strong storms flooding some streets and turning certain intersections into temporary ponds and lakes.
It started on Tuesday and heavy storms werw expected to hit with strong winds and rains starting on Wednesday in Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster and continuing through Friday.
Residents and travelers may encounter an increased risk of downed trees, power outages and debris in roadways.
If you’re traveling – especially for long distances –allow extra time to reach your destination, drive slowly and avoid flooded areas.
At home, clear your rain gutters and “secure” inflatable holiday decorations as well as lights on your rooftops.
In Orange County, the foothills in northern OC may be especially at risk of flooding and landslides. Parts of Pacific Coast Highway, especially in Seal Beach and Huntington Beach, may find the roadways awash.
In all areas, stay away from downed electrical power lines and call 9-1-1.
Weather forecasts for Garden Grove call for precipitation all day on Thursday and Friday, finally giving way to mostly sunny conditions on Saturday.
On Wednesday, heavy rain were expected to hit Huntington Beach with winds of up to 30 miles an hour.
