Second in a series looking back on news events in 2025 in the cities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster. These are for the months of April, May and June.
No one is above the law, we have been told. In 2025, there were two well-publicized examples of that. An Orange County judge was convicted of killing his wife and a county supervisor sent to federal prison in a bribery scheme involving money meant to feed the elderly. Here’s a brief recap of this quarter of 2025.

MAY: The Marina High Vikings won the CIF-SS Division 3 softball championship, defeating Westlake, 8-1 … Huntington Beach and Garden Grove were cited as among the “best places to raise a family” by the marketing firm wallethub.com … The 2025 Strawberry Festival honored “diversity” and had civil rights pioneer Sylvia Mendez as its parade grand marshal …The Los Angeles Angels swept the Dodgers in a three-game series in Anaheim … An 89-unit townhouse project was approved by the Westminster City Council for construction on the grounds of the (now-closed) Westminster Mall …
