An eighth-grade student from Jordan Intermediate School in Garden Grove has won the 38h Annual Intermediate Spelling Bee of the Garden Grove Unified School District.

Minh Do took the championship trophy. It was the third year in a row that a Jordan student won top honors.

The top 10 spellers were Kaitlyn Yun (Lake), Elliana Nguyen (McGarvin), Joaquin Ablis (Fitz Language Academy), Daniyal Adil (Jordan), Mauri Tuvera (Alamitos), Quynh Vu (Doig), Jacob Vo (McGarvin), Katie Vu (McGarvin) and Aric Huynh (Irvine).

The district champion and nine runners-up will represent the district at the Orange County Spelling Bee, with the written segment set for Feb. 23 at the Orange County Department of Education.
