Area high school boys’ soccer and basketball teams opened CIF-SS action on Wednesday, posting a total of five wins.

In Division 2 basketball play, Edison slipped past Elsinore 79-76.

In Division 7 action, La Quinta defeated CSDR (California School for the Deaf-Riverside) by 79-42. Also in D-7 action, Garden Grove lost 61-60 to Notre Dame.

In D-8 play, Bolsa Grande beat Banning 52-43 and Rancho Alamitos lost 63-46 to Silver Valley.

Soccer action had Edison post a 3-0 win over Jurupa Hills in Division 1 play. In D-3, Huntington Beach lost 2-1 to Littlerock and Westminster fell 4-2 to Oxnard.

Magnolia prevailed 6-0 over Rancho Verde in Division 5, and Indio slipped by Santiago 1-0.
