Fire on Flannel smothered

Smoke alarms sounding off enabled a family to escape their Garden Grove home as flames began to erupt..

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the fire was reported at the house on Flannel Avenue, located in a tract southeast of Katella Avenue and Brookhurst Street.

Firefighters were on the scene within five minutes and were able to knock down the blaze in 13 minutes.

One adult who had sustained minor injuries while rescuing their four dogs was assessed by firefighter paramedics. One dog did not survive.

One firefighter was transported to an area hospital for a preliminary evaluation. Assisting the OCFA in their operations were Anaheim Fire and Rescue, Garden Grove police and SoCal Red Cross.
