Racquet-swingers, rejoice!
At Tuesday’s meeting of the Stanton City Council, two actions were taken which will offer better athletic options for those who play tennis and badminton.
The council voted to accept a $20,000 grant from the United States Tennis Association for resurfacing of three tennis courts at Stanton Central Park. The funds come from the USTA’s Tennis Venue Services.
The park is located at 10660 Western Ave., just south of Katella Ave.
Also on Tuesday night, the council approved a resolution clearing the way for development of a badminton facility. The resolution backed by the council approved a subdivision parcel map calling for the consolidation of six lots into one parcel at 10662 Court Ave.
In addition to the badminton courts there will be a parking lot and other site improvements. The vote was 5-0.
