Firefighters used the “jaws of life” device to free a person trapped in a vehicle after a traffic accident Sunday morning in Garden Grove.
According to Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the Garden Grove Fire Department, the crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Cardinal Circle. Arriving firefighters found one vehicle on its side, with two passengers. The auto had come to rest against a high-voltage electrical box.
For safety reasons, Southern California Edison had to shut off electrical power in the area for some time.
One of the people in the car had managed to climb out of the vehicle, but the second person was stuck. Firefighters cut away the roof of the car and lifted the passenger out.
Both were treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
