A PEDESTRIAN was killed late Sunday night in Garden Grove in a hit-and-run incident.

Update: The Orange County Coroner’s office on Tuesday identified the man killed in Sunday’s hit-and-run as Thomas Hess of Anaheim.

A 55-year-old man was fatally injured in a hit-and-run accident late Sunday morning night when struck crossing Chapman Avenue in Garden. According to Lt. Bob Bogue of the GGPD, the man was pushing a shopping cart southbound across the street west of Haster Street at about 11:30 p.m.

There was not a marked crosswalk where he was walking and was struck by a white vehicle, possibly a sedan. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver fled the scene in his auto before police arrived. Left behind was a side mirror found at the scene of the collision.
