
THE 2016 PRE-SEASON football polls for the CIF-SS is out, and only one local school got any respect from voters. Edison High’s Chargers are ranked third in Division 3.
In the brave new world of CIF-SS football divisions based not on enrollment or leagues but on previous records, the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area didn’t get much respect in the pre-season rankings issues Tuesday.
Only one local school – Edison, in Division 3 – was ranked at all in any of the new 13 divisions. The Chargers are ranked third in that grouping. A total of 18 teams from Orange County were ranked. They are:

- Mater Dei (second)
- Mission Viejo (fourth)
- JSerra (10th)
Division 2
- La Habra (fifth)
Division 3
- Villa Park (second)
- Edison (third)
- San Juan Hills (sixth)
- Buena Park (eighth)
Division 4
- Corona del Mar (first)
- Valencia/Placentia (eighth)
Division 7
- Tustin (10th)
Division 8
- El Modena (first)
- Laguna Hills (fourth)
- Brea Olinda (eighth)
Division 11
- Capistrano Valley Christian (eighth)
Division 12
- Segerstrom (third)
- Saddleback (ninth)
Division 13
- Santa Ana (first)
- Godinez (third)
- Costa Mesa (tied for 10th).
