Eight-car crash shuts down GG Freeway

TRAFFIC on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway was tangled when an eight-car crash injured four people Sunday afternoon (OC Tribune photo).

Traffic on the Garden Grove Freeway came to a complete halt Sunday afternoon when a traffic accident involving eight vehicles took place. According to Capt. Thanh Nguyen of the Garden Grove Fire Department, the incident occurred about 2:27 p.m. on the freeway just west of Harbor Boulevard.

Four people were injured, including a toddler. The California Highway Patrol shut down the freeway while extra paramedics were called to assist. Of the four injured, two adults were triaged as trauma patients and were considered in stable condition at the time they were taken to area hospitals.

The toddler and another injured adult were treated at the scene for minor injuries and transported to an area hospital. The crash is being investigated by the CHP.
